The 97B captured their second consecutive tournament title with a 1-0 victory over Austin’s Forza FC 97B North.

The 96G won both the semifinals and the final in dramatic shootout fashion to capture the tourney title. LT’s 96G defeated Austin’s River City Rangers 96G in a shootout (3-2) in the semis and then beat the RGV 96G Lady Bullets (McAllen, TX) with an identical 3-2 shootout victory in the final.

Lake Travis’ 94G Red team advanced out of group play and into the semifinals, where they fell to Rush Pikes Peak Nike (Colorado Springs, CO), 1-0.

Fall 2008 - League Updates

95B Advance to Super II Western District Playoffs; 98B & 96G Narrowly Miss Out

The Lake Travis 95B (U14) select team placed 2nd in the Fall 2008 CAYSA Super II league standings and will advance to the Super II Western District Playoffs in Harlingen, TX at the Harlingen Sports Complex and Victor Park, Dec. 6-7.

The 95B, who finished with a 7-3 league record, will compete in an 8-team tournament with the top two teams advancing to the Fall 2008 State Championships Dec. 13-14.

The 98B (U11) just missed out on qualifying for playoffs in their first season of select, finishing in 3rd place (top two teams advance) in the 12-team CAYSA Super II league. The 98B, who scored the most goals (26) of any team in the league, finished with an 8-2-1 overall mark.

The 96G (U13) finished tied for 2nd place in the Fall 2008 CAYSA Super II standings, but missed out on a playoff berth due to the head-to-head tiebreaker. The 96G completed their season with a 5-2-1 record, also scoring the most goals (26) of any team in the league. All three LT select teams will be recommended to play in the Spring 2009 President’s Cup, which is for mid-level DI teams and top Super II-level teams.

98G Black and 97B notch highest-ever Division I finish

The 98G Black (U11) and the 97B (U12) Lake Travis select teams each placed 3rd in the Fall 2008 WDDOA (Western District Division One Association) standings. The 3rd place finishes are the highest-ever placing for a Lake Travis select team in Division I.

The 98G Black, playing their first season of select soccer and becoming the club’s first-ever team to start select play at the DI level, finished 3rd in the standings with a 3-3-1 overall record in the 8-team league.

The 97B, also playing their first season in Division I after qualifying from Super II the previous year, completed their Fall 2008 campaign with a 5-2-1 overall record. The 97B placed 3rd in the 9-team league.

Both Lake Travis teams, part of a 12-team select club, finished only behind teams from the two largest clubs in San Antonio (Classics) or Austin (Lonestars), each of which have over 50+ select teams in their organizations.

The 98G Black and 97B will become the first-ever LT select teams to participate in the Spring 2009 National Cup, which is the spring competition for premier and top DI-level teams. The President’s Cup, which is for mid-level DI and top Super II teams, was the highest level of spring competition for any Lake Travis teams previously.
