Tim Chestney, a former standout
midfielder for the University of the Incarnate Word, is the Lake
Travis Soccer Club's Director of Coaching. Chestney was named
LT's DOC in early 2003 and has helped lead the club to 5 South
Texas Youth Soccer Association (STYSA) State Championships.
Chestney coached the 93G (U14) Super II-level team to the club's
first-ever undefeated state championship season during the Fall
2006 season.
Chestney spent 2001-2004 as the
Volunteer Assistant Coach for the University of Texas women's
team under two-time National Coach of the Year, Chris Petrucelli,
as the Longhorns captured the 2001 Big 12 Conference
Championship and four-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
Originating from San Antonio, Texas,
Chestney was not only a four-year letter winner and two-time
NAIA All-American for Incarnate Word, but was the Crusaders'
team captain and an Academic All-American as both a junior and
senior. He also graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in
journalism in 1997 after being named his club's Freshman of the
Year in 1993 and MVP in 1996, leading Incarnate Word to three
NAIA National Tournaments (1993, 1994 & 1996) and becoming the
school record holder for career assists (65) and games played
(95). Chestney also led the nation in assists during the 1996
campaign with 24 and was selected to participate in the 1997
Umbro Select College All-Star Game in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Chestney was inducted into the University of Incarnate Word
Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006.
In terms of coaching experience,
Chestney holds a National Soccer Coaches Association of America
(NSCAA) Advanced National Diploma, National Youth Diploma,
State/Regional Goalkeeping Diploma and a USSF B License.
Chestney has worked as a soccer coach at Joe Machnik's No. 1
Soccer Camps, the University of Texas Soccer Camp, Brown
University Soccer School and the Incarnate Word Soccer Academy.
In addition, while working full-time for cc&c Management Group
(soccer management/marketing company) from 2000-2003, Chestney
also served as a coach for the Capitals Soccer Club and CC
United Soccer Club in Austin. He also played professionally
with the Austin Lone Stars in 1995, 1996 and 2000.
Chestney, who was named to the 2008
STYSA Olympic Development Program (ODP) coaching staff, trains
all select and rec plus players at Lake Travis and coaches the
94G DI team and the 97G Black Super II team for the 2007-2008

Mike Smith joined Lake Travis after
coaching collegiately for 17 years, serving as head coach of the
St. Edward's University Men's Soccer program in Austin. Smith
compiled a 167-129-28 overall record, including 11 winning
seasons, eight NAIA Playoff appearances and one NCAA Tournament
appearance. In 2000 the team won the inaugural Heartland
Conference Championship while posting a second consecutive
undefeated conference record (6-0-0 in 1999 and 7-0-1 in 2000).
In 1992 his team broke the school record
for wins with 14, a mark that stood until the 1999 team posted a
16-2-1 record behind a strong defense that ranked #18 nationally
in goals against average (0.86) and
#16 in shutouts (9).
Smith was selected Heartland Conference
Coach of the Year in 1999, his fourth conference/district Coach
of the Year honor. He began his coaching career with club soccer
in the San Antonio and Austin area in 1977. Three years later,
he graduated from the University of Texas-San Antonio with a bac
helor's in physical education and a minor in mathematics. In
1982 he received his master’s degree in biomechanics from the
University of North Texas.
Smith coached club soccer until hired
to serve as head coach at St. Edward's in 1987. His early
success led him to become the women's head coach in 1990 when
the program was added. Smith has coached 13 All-Americans, 12
Academic All-Americans and two Senior Bowl participants.
At LT, Smith worked with the 92B select team for the 2006-2007
seasons. He will be rejoining the coaching staff for the Spring
2008 season after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at
Saint Leo University (Florida).
Darci Carruthers brings a wealth of
experience to Lake Travis after playing two years each at the
University of Portland (2000-2001) and Texas (2002-2003).
Carruthers guided the 92G (U15) Super II team to the club's
first-ever undefeated-Super II level State Championship in the
Fall 2006 season. She led her 97G (U11) DII team to a 3rd place
state finish during the Fall 2007 season.
The Temple City, CA native played in
goal for the Pilots, helping the legendary Clive Charles' led
team to two NCAA National Semifinal appearances. After
transferring to Austin, Carruthers helped the Longhorns to two-
consecutive NCAA tournament berths with her play between the
pipes.
The Sociology major led her club team
(Mission Viejo Mirage, Cal South) to a second place finish at
the 1999 United States Youth Soccer (USYS) Snickers National
Cup. Carruthers' coaching experience includes working at both
the University of Portland and Texas soccer camps from
2001-2003. She holds a USSF D License.
Darci trains the Lake Travis
goalkeepers for both select and rec plus and coaches the 98G Rec
Plus team, the 97G Division II team, the 96G Division II team
and the 92G Super II team for the 2007-2008 season.
Jose holds a USSF National B License and
has coached in the Austin area since 1982. Since 1984, his
concentration has been with youth soccer.
He was a past Director of Training
(Girls Program) for the Warriors Soccer Club, as well as the
Chaps Soccer Club in Westlake. He was also a Director (Junior
Program) of the Eagles Girls soccer program. He played in
Monterrey, Mexico at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon as a
student where he received an engineering degree.
Jose works with the Rec Plus and rec
players at Lake Travis and specifically coaches the 99B Black
and 99G Rec Plus teams for the 2007-2008 season.
Coach Ormonde is the boy’s high school
coach at Dripping Springs and was the Director of Player
Development for Dripping Springs Youth Soccer Association before
joining the Lake Travis coaching staff for 2005. Coach Ormonde
has also coached at the Austin United Soccer Club.
He holds his USSF National B License as
well as his NSCAA Level I and II GK License. Ormonde was named
the All-Central Texas High School Boys Coach of the Year in
2006. Coach Ormonde guided Dripping Springs’ high school
team to the 4A Regional final and a 21-3-1 overall record. At
LT, Brian coached the 94B (U13) Super II-level team to a 3rd
place state finish during the Fall 2006 season.
He guided the 95B (U13) Division II team
to a 4th place finish at the Fall 2007 STYSA State
Championships. Brian coaches the 95B and 94B select teams for
the 2007-2008 season.
Brendon, who is a native of Manchester,
England, began coaching as a volunteer with Lake Travis rec
teams in 1993. Brendon spent six years (1999-2005) coaching with
Austin United, working with all levels from academy to U17
select. Brendon served two years as Head Coach for the St.
Michaels Academy Boys JV team. Brendon holds a USSF C National
License and holds a degree in Organizational Psychology.
Coach Brendon coaches the 98B Black and
98B Red Rec Plus teams along with the 92B select team for the
2007-2008 season.

Lana Bowen begins her first season coaching for Lake Travis
during the Spring 2008 season.
Bowen played at Santa Clara University from 2001-2004, where she
was a key defender for the team that won the NCAA Division I
National Championship in 2001. Bowen was named Most Improved
Player as a freshman during the Broncos 2001 national
championship season, scoring a goal and earning three assists
while part of a back line that shutout 14 opponents.
Bowen, who played for legendary college coach Jerry Smith and
advanced to three Final Fours during her time at Santa Clara,
including losing in the National Championship match to Portland
in Austin in 2002. During her time at Santa Clara, the
economics major played with current U.S. National Team players
Aly Wagner and Leslie Osborne.
After her collegiate career, Bowen moved to Oslo, Norway where
she played professional soccer for ROA Dynamite Girls in 2006.
In terms of coaching experience, Bowen coached the San Carlos
Inferno U12 girls and worked the Santa Clara University Soccer
Camps from 2001-2005. Bowen holds her USSF (United States
Soccer Federation) “E” License.
Bowen will coach the '99G Rec Plus team during the Spring 2008
season.
